Money

You want your eyebrow to lock straight up to your hairline in surprise? Search “your relationship with money” in Google. This is yet another placeholder, or seed, if you will. The search engine return suggests that an incredible number of people have asked themselves the question, “what’s going on with me and money?” It’s not just me. It’s just plain to see that money is a lot more than a unit of exchange/trade.

A no brainer, right?

Not really. It’s only a no-brainer if you choose not to look at your relationship with money; it’s easy if you have the luxury of not having to examine the role it plays in your sense of well-being. It’s absolutely not a no-brainer for the people going to Debtors Anonymous. Yes, there is a 12 Steps program for people who have identified a disease of the mind involving money. There are probably a lot more people that need a program.

Anyway, a placeholder for me and for others, who have some odd sense (and I’m paraphrasing an author on the topic) that frugality translates as deprivation.

Sidenote: Why are the words parsimonious and frugal such ugly sounding words? Is it the words themselves or the emotional associations?
