I’m thinking of the genius and ambition behind this 24 hour cycle and what would be the optimal viewing experience from this end of things. Certainly a bigger screen and a sound system worthy of the project. It’s impressive enough on a 13″ laptop but half the novelty is in imagining it as a more immersive experience, something that simulates actually being in the car with the music, on the journey.
They’ve also broken it down into 60 minute segments with sweeping 360 degree scenery. That’s something I would save for the more immersive setting.
So the previous two posts are tangential to posts before them, one on contemporary “philosophers” and the other on digital culture and how we project ourselves out into cyberspace… our digital identity. They are both topics that are entirely related and unless I’m sidetracked, will explore more in depth. We are in the seedling stage now so any posts will be shorter. Consider them placeholders. It’s kind of a question of identity and identification. Sometimes to know who and what you are you also have to know who and what you are not. Otherwise you’re just looking in a mirror and getting a flat image returned.
Ambient music… what is it really but a sort of personal climate control? It’s all an attempt to sonically simulate a personal space, large or small. It also connects to the topic of our cyber-selves. It’s the potential soundtrack perhaps.
More later.
Enjoy.
If anyone needs me I’ll be driving around Iceland.
Fucking Iceland!
