COVID-19, part 16

The call was made today. Schools in New York City are shuttered until April 20th. There will be online classes but the successes there don’t seem likely. This is a bigger move than it seems on the surface though, It’s a first and not at all like calling a snow day. It’s the first huge blow to social structure.

Going to have to process the implications here.

I asked someone last night how high their fear level was on a scale of 1 to 10. She responded a four and qualified it with most of it being based in the fear of carrying it to someone who is more vulnerable. I’d put my own at a 5, with much of it being based in the same. That and it twists up my heart to see people gripped in fear. I’m not a saint. It’s just that I can relate. I lived most of my life in fear. It’s horrible.

As for tonight, there is very little traffic out on Ocean Parkway. There are very few people outside. Sundays are usually pretty busy. There hasn’t been this little traffic out there since the last blizzard.

Whistling…
