This is going to seem like a hard left unless you’ve been hanging out for a bit, so you know that anything at all is possible and surprises are probable. This mix surprised me with its inviting warmth. I’ve spoken often of nostalgia for futures that never came to be. This goes entirely in the other direction. This is nostalgia for a past that never existed, at least not for me. I suspect it recalls a specific American mythology, one of those good old days stories that was manufactured for radio and early television but never exactly occurred. Well, hell, they tried, didn’t they?
They sure tried, and I’m not so sure that’s a bad thing.
