Confession: This mix would have found its way to this space on the merits of the photo alone as it captures the vibe of the times even more than the music, which does a proficient job itself. It’s one of those holy shit photos where there is so much to unpack. Any portion of it would be a complete statement in and of itself but as a whole it’s a mosaic of doom. It could be the perfect photograph. No, it is a perfect photograph. I wish this account gave photo credits to their mixes because they are truly inspired collections.

So how goes the war, you ask? It’s going. There are moments of quiet but rarely of peace. There may be a random ceasefire, entirely by accident and never by design, and it feels like the bear is always peering in the window. We all manage the odd laugh here and there. Those who drink maybe a bit more, but they had better think about the sustainability of such behavior against the long haul. And it’s going to be a long haul. To cite the hackneyed phrase, it’s going to get a whole lot worse before it gets any better. Save your energy, kids. You may need it for the fight. Or better yet, save it for a full-on retreat. Some wars cannot be won and I suspect this is one of them. None of us get out of here alive.
