Lifehack – Making changes.

I’m going to throw some shit out into The Universe here and maybe it will help someone.

It’s all well and good that self-improvement, wellness, health and mental health are trending. No, it’s all better than well and good. It’s fucking excellent, really! It’s so far above and beyond self-medication and numbing symptoms. I’m going to make a suggestion though that could make the difference between positive change and just busy-work.

Consider changing your life like seeking the source of an unspecified allergic reaction. You’re going to want to cut out the things that aren’t working for you, or are plain harmful to your progress. Strip it down, but be mindful to continue with practices that you need for maintenance and harm reduction.

THEN, try something new. A new diet perhaps, and bear in mind that diet is a noun and not a verb. If you see progress in weight loss and health, but then stop, you will lose any gains almost immediately. Introduce a new activity. Try a new therapist. Do any fucking thing really but be patient and try them each one at a time and give time time, as they say, to see if it’s getting your where you want to be. Or alternately, you could react adversely but you’ll know right away to stop.

If you just start adding stuff on to what you’re already doing you’re just going to clutter your life and impede any sort of progress and change.

Just be patient.

I don’t know why I feel compelled to throw this out here. I guess I just see people desperately grabbing onto things to stay afloat and then getting disappointed when they find they are just running in place. Start with the housecleaning, and honestly, that may actually be enough. Probably not, but just maybe.
