Guy Debord would have had quite a bit to say about our current struggles, I’m sure. I’ve been thinking a lot about the narrative collapse and the lies we tell ourselves to get by all being exposed and stripped away. Yesterday I said that our existential and spiritual emergencies began long before the pandemic. I’m going to double back on that. The existential crisis existed and manifested in many ways, probably the best example being global warming. We reached emergency status there a generation or more before Covid-19. It is the spiritual emergency that’s been growing exponentially with each passing month. The post-industrial West is fully aware of the fraud at even its most stupid. That people have doubled down on proclaiming belief, and on declaring the faith and making vows of loyalty shows desperation, but that doesn’t mean they don’t see. It seems obvious to me that they do see very clearly but are determined to not be deemed fools so they’re doubling down. We all know we’re not saints. Even the dumbest suspects that the worst things being said about him are true. How’s that for deplorable?
False prophets and conspiracy theories…
And as far as those who have taken the red pill, this is the first time in my lifetime that I’ve seen some of them ready to fight.
So it’s not all bad.
