Radio Quarantine -きのこ帝国 (Kinoko Teikoku) – eureka (2013)

For those who might think I never rise up from the darkness into the light, it deserves mention that Eureka by きのこ帝国 (Kinoko Teikoku) is one of my favorite finds of the last 12 months. It came out back in 2013 when the whole dream pop/shoegaze thing was blowing up, but god only knows where my head was at back then. I don’t rightly remember what I was spinning on the regular. It’s so funny to be so taken by a pop record with no understanding at all of what they’re singing about. To me, this is angelic.

There’s not much to say at this time of day. By the third track, Haru to shuura (which I believe means Springtime to Slaughter) which comes in at about 9:40 I’m soaring. It’s funny that I knew without translating the lyrics from Japanese that the song was about navigating and surviving a relationship. All the frustration and anxiety and urgency is there. She just wants to come out whole on the other side. It’s a killer.

That’s it. I just wanted to make sure this made it on here.
