It’s been a while, and I’m not going to lie. It’s just been to strange to keep track of or stay on top of. I can’t wake up every morning to immerse myself in the conflict. It wasn’t sustainable so I’ve given myself some space to write poetry and create art. If anything at all survives it should be art and poetry and music. In that light I’m going to offer up this collection of chill jams from The Mix Curator. They’ve consistently been a source of the light since the pandemic brought us to a halt a few years back now. It’s hard to believe it’s been four years, but there you go. Time flies when you’re busy covering your own ass and you’ve kept your head low. Time does funny things when you’re hidden away in the bunker. It either drags or races. Minutes seem like hours. Days seem like weeks. Or a month can go by in ten seconds. You wake up one day and it’s gone from January to April. That’s where I am.
And it’s not like I got nothing done. Some things fell apart right before the New Year, and I woke up on the 1st of January and did a thirteen mile hike down the spine of Manhattan Island. Since then I’ve written and recorded 49 poems as part of the Short Poem Project. I’ve completed and recorded a 50th longer piece. It feels good to be writing. It’s taken away from the horrors of war and geopolitics. I’ve completed a couple small pieces of art. I’ve done some exploring. And all seemingly in ten minutes! December 31st seems like a brief moment ago. Of course it’s not… Of course it’s not. Anyway, here’s some music, not by me. Just something I’ve collected a long the way.
