Karlheinz Stockhausen ~ Plus Minus No. 14

This one is almost playful in moments. It’s impossible not to be taken in, unless you insist on a very linear musical narrative, or a very straight-forward, traditional progression. That all may be in No. 14 but my limited musical knowledge misses it. What I get is suspense. This is another piece that feels suited for a film soundtrack. It’s kinetic. It’s visual. It is, at least for me, cinematic but still subtle. Not grandiose at all. It’s a good start for the day.

But yes, the best part about starting a work week on a Thursday is that it’s already Friday and I’m entering the weekend with plans. That’s a rarity in my life actually. There are always loose promises for this or that, but these are actual scheduled plans with places to be at specific times. That always makes me squirrelly but I’m actually looking forward to having someplace to go. Concert for Saturday and dance party for Sunday.

I’m still a bit on edge. The days off didn’t quite settle that, apparently. That needs some examination. Random angst never feels unspecified or random or unwarranted in the middle of it, but it might just be. It remains to be seen. Is it something for which there’s an appropriate action, or is the action merely letting go? I’m leaning toward the latter. We shall see.

We shall see.
