Radio Dystopia: My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult – Kooler Than Jesus (1989)

Because why the fuck not? MY LIFE WITH THE THRILL KILL KULT

“Reality is the only word in the English language that should always be used in quotes.” Nobody knows the origins of this quote but who cares? TKK is the only context I need. Put every damn thing to music. There is music. Everything else is subjective. Everything else is questionable.

I only really trust things I have seen with my own eyes or heard with my own ears. Things I’ve experienced with my own senses. Even then it’s only trustworthy if it’s recent. Time puts a whammy on pretty much everything. It doesn’t even have to be a lot of time. But it has to be recent.

Kat told me that there are parts of her history she has eight different versions of, passed on by eight different people. That sounds about right. There are few parts of my own history that are without the flaws of time, memory and blatant dishonesty. You’ll never get the whole truth so the trick is to be happy with your present. Everything else… well… I’ve said that already, haven’t I? It’s okay. You are who you are and what you do now, and that’s cool because you have some authority over that. It’s too much trouble to sift through the rest. Save yourself the trouble.

Then take what you have and put it to music and dance.

The sad thing is that once you have found that crack in the armor of identity where a vital piece of your story as it’s been told to you has been revealed to be false, it calls everything else into question. That includes the parts you cherish. You’re going to have to be okay with that.

You’ve still got the rhythm. You’ve still got the beat.
