This may be my favorite of the SOVIETWAVE mixes I’ve heard yet on Youtube. It’s the tone. It’s the vibe. It’s the mood, about the most true to the form as I’ve come to understand about the genre. The artwork they chose for it does it for me also. It’s almost an Edward Hopper color palette mashup with Soviet era poster art. The comments sections all become ‘samey’ after a while but the message is just as poignant. People miss a collective Utopian vision of the future. We miss an idea that the struggle might actually be about working towards a future… that there’s a point, however misguided the means to the end may have been. Methodology can all be fixed, but there has to be a reason for it all to exist.
